Since we did our prelim film i think we have improved a lot as media students.
Our prelim for some of us was the first thing we filmed and edited professionally and i think we have improved so much and our final film proves my point.
TITLES
In our prelim film the titles were a bit boring, it did not look attractive it was just plain. The title entered in a boring way there was no style it was pretty much boring.
But with our final film we were more creative. We used an animatic to bring in the titles and the titles were more stylised to look like they were typed so it brings more style to our film.
CAMERA SHOTS
We used basic camera shots with our prelim film so it did not bring much excitement to the prelim film but in our final film we used a variety of shots like long shots, low angle, over the shoulder etc. The shot i like is the one were the camera circles Amy while she is drawing. I think it was very creative even though it was a bit unsteady but it turned out alright .
TRANSITIONS
We did not use transitions in our prelim film so it was just cut after cut which was uninteresting becasue our prelim film was supposed to be action packed but in a way it worked. In our final film we decided to use transitions becasue the film started off slowly so the transitions made our film look more mysterious so it flowed better.
SOUND
We used sound from soundtrack pro with our first film but i think we got a bit too excited with all the sounds so i think the sounds we used for our prelim film did not work. For our final film we used soundtrack pro again but we also made Fatama sing 'Twinkle Twinkle Little Star' then combined the recorded sounds with the sound from soundtrack pro to make our final soundtrack. I still think we could have improved it by adding a diffrent sound near the end to build up the tension and make our film have diffrent dynamics because our film did drag on a bit becasue of the repeatative sound.
What made our final film different from the rest is that we added drawn pictures in our film. We traced what was on the screen then we put the drawings in a scanner. It saved onto the computer, then we saved them onto a usb and transfered it into final cut pro. When we were making our prelims it was pretty much just do as the teachers said becasue we were new to filming and we wanted to get it right. So we did not use our imaginations or think creatively. Whereas with our final film because we planned it well we were able to add new things and try and make our film unique.

QUESTION 7 What have you learned about technologies from the process of constructing this product
This is me and Ethel talking about all the things we have learned.
QUESTION 6 Audience Feedback and comments

Wednesday, 30 March 2011
QUESTION 4&5 What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why? How will you attract/address your audience?
Because our film is a low budget film independent company's would most likely distribute our film or we could upload our films on websites like youtube or vimeo and hopefully get more viewers. Some students have uploaded their videos on websites here are a few

here is the link for the film on the website firstlightonline.co.uk
http://www.firstlightonline.co.uk/movies/#silent-song
Another student uploaded his video online and he won a competition here is the link to it

QUESTION 3 Who would be the audience for your media product?
THIS WOULD BE OUR TYPICAL TARGET AUDIENCE
GoAnimate.com: Kim 18 by ethelafrane
GoAnimate.com
This is one of our target audiences. Our film is for 15+ but we think maybe older people may want to come like people who are 16 and over becasue it may be a bit complicated for some.

QUESTION 2 How does your media product represent particular social groups
Here is our main character Amy we wanted her to look natural like the girl Esther from the movie Orphan this is what Amy looks like and here is what Esther looks like.
Both of them have a natural look that hides the mystery of the story.

QUESTION 1 In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
Here is the story board of the opening for the film Any Human Heart i could not upload the video but here are the pics
The pictures were analysed on the website
The next picture is what it looked like in colour.
This is similar to our film because it uses animations for the opening scene like our film here is a screen grab of our film that also uses animatics for the opening.
Another film opening that is similar to our is the Sherlock holmes opening. Sherlock Holmes uses animatics to sketch out what the scene is about then it comes to life. Hereis the opening.

Final Cut
We have finally finished our opening to a thriller film.. this is it.. hope you enjoy it..
Final Day
This is my last blog i no 30 seems like a little but i do write a lot compared to some of the blogs that i have seen. Blogging is a new thing for me im not used to it but it is helpful. This may not be the last time i use this but hopefully next time i can adjust to it quickly so i can write more blogs and enjoy doing them. Our film is now complete so all we need to do is complete it. We are all hoping for high grades so good luck everyone and i cant wait to see GROUP 17s film on the big screen (and the others). I'm so proud i feel like crying but unfortunately i will not. BYE BLOGGER
Final Day
What i think of my film- It different, spooky in an innocent way if that makes sense and unique because i dont see any one else with pictures in their films. We tried our best with our films so i hope it can show in our film. It took us a short period of time to film it due to unnecessary circumstances but because it was edited to perfection it looks like it was filmed for a long period of time.
Final Day
At first when we were told that we were filming an opening scene for a thriller film i was very excited. I had many ideas but one of my ideas was to have a girl be obsessed by dolls and those dolls would control her through out her life so she'll kill people and and try and destroy things but its not her doing it its the dolls in her mind. It was very difficult because this idea needed many things to make it happen so it was hard to do it exactly the way i imagined it but it eventually came out alright with the right planning.
Final Day
I forgot to talk about sound here are some images of Fatama singing i thought she was singing in the shower but i guess not. These images are from Fatama's blog she has analysed the images and told us her process.

She used her ipod to record her singing an iPOD is a convergence because it can be used to do many things like listen to music, record watch videos go on the internet etc. Technology these days. Its hard to keep up !
Final Day
I would like to thank all of the media department for letting us use their equipment, i would like to thank my group because they are always hardworking and looking out for each other. i would like to thank Ethel's sister who drew the orignal pictures for us. i would like to thank Ethel and her family for allowing us to use her house and also Amy and her family for allowing us to use her house.
Hopefully when we see our film on the big screen the audience give us the reaction that we want them to give us.

Final Day
Today is the final day for our blogs and our film. I have just watched our completed film and it looks great. at first as you can see from the other blogs i was a bit so and so about our film but now i'm starting to see the thrill.
Here are some of the pictures from what we have been doing for the past couple of days it includes the pictures that we drew for the film the pictures that were meant to be used and the pictures of us working and getting on with things.

Coming Close To The Deadline
Tomorrow is the deadline for the films and blogs. Goodbye Film. Goodbye Blog. at first i did not get used to the blogging thing i still dont think i have gotten used to it. I just force myself to do it but i guess blogging does help to remember all the memories of our filming process. I have now learnt how to use a camera to film professional things not family holidays or whatever so i learnt how to focus a camera how to adjust it to the natural lighting of our surroundings. I learnt alot. I also learnt how to use blogger at first i didnt know how to upload videos but now its easy for me. This has been a tiring process but once our film is completed to perfection it will all be worth it.
Coming Close To The Deadline
So as with many films there are the difficulties. Heres a list:
No memory cards- we could not find our memory card so we could not film which leads to the next difficulty.
Less Time- so as we couldn't film becasue we had no memory cards so the half term that we had was a complete waste of time
Few Dolls- we did not have enough dolls so we could not make the room look girly enough to fit the purpose of our film
Stingy Shopkeepers- So we had limited dolls we went to many charity shops and we found the perfect doll to act as Annabelle unfortunaley the doll was very expensive and we did not want to spent too much money on it because we were only going to use it for a little while so it would be a waste of money but when we tried to negotiate (we asjed to borrow then return) the shopkeeper said no
Restrictions- The equipment was retured at a late time so somebody from the media depeartment.(not nameing any names) said we could not use it out of media hours. So the only time we could film were on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Copyrighted music- the soundtrack that we used happened to be copyrighted. It was soo beautiful *sobs*
Pictures- we realised that the pictures did not work well with our film so we had to change them quickly
Refilming- OH MY our first film did not make any sense it was soo complicated so many things were happening and it was just the opening so we had to refilm it
Unfocused clips- Disater! We had to refilm
Apart from all of this were doing just fine.

Theatres and Cinemas
Yesterday i went with my drama class to see a play called The Red Shoes at the BAC in Clapham Common. It was a brilliant play it was said to be similar to the film black swan. Which FYI i have not seen. Apart from the actors and actresses i think what made the show brilliant is the fact that it was interactive. Of course in the cinema it can't be interactive but the film shown is meant to connect to us but i feel as if its a sit and watch situation whereas in a theatre its a sit-watch-interact situation because the cators communicate with the audience and we can also touch some of the props and everything is in your face. The theatre space was also different some of the seating was made of hay and the rest were just blocks. I forgot the reason why i mentioned that but ill come back to it. The good thing about watching films in a Cinema is that with the cinema all our attention is on the film and no where else but in a theatre space you can be easily disracted because many things are happening around us so its easy for us to be confused becasue the plays are always face paced.
Now i remember why i mentioned the hay seating and block seating- it makes us/the audience feel part of the scenary.
I recommend you seeing The Red Shoes its a really good play some people said it was scary or a bit confusing but i enjoyed every part of it. I like horror films so what scared the rest did not scare me.

Coming Close To The Deadline
So in my last blog i told you about the new pictures that we had drawn. So here they are. They look good right? I think these pictures make more sense now no offense to Ethel's sister who kindly gave up her time to draw lovely picture for us THANKS ETHEL'S SISTER outside help is always appreciated. So on friday we are going to continue finishing up our film. We are going to add the titles/credits. We are hoping for something simply so that it does not distract the audience from the point of the film. The next blog i am going to do has got nothing to do with our film but i just want to talk about the feeling of going to the theatre instead of the cinema. ITS GOT SOMETHING TO DO WITH MEDIA
Coming Close To The Deadline
So were coming close to the deadline everything is going well i guess i still think we might need to fix it a bit but so far im ok with our film. I personally don't think it looks very thrilling compared to the other groups thta i have seen but i think for students that haven't filmed or edited clips before this film is preety good.
We had a bit of a problem with the sound becasue we did not know if it was copyrighted so we had to thin again. The sound that we were going to use was soooo good. It was soo mystical and spooky but not to worry becasue we had fatama who sang a nursery rhyme and we used that. She sang in her shower to create an echoing effect which was really good.
We also realised that the pictures were not really fitting with the film so we looked over the Sherlock Holmes opening and we realised that the images were of what was going to happen next so that is what we decided to do. In my next blog i will show you how it looked.
Here is the sound we were orignally going to use and you will hear the sound that we had to use when our film is finshed.
